Human Kinetics is a leading publisher of books, journals, and online resources focused on fitness, health, sports, and physical activity. In my work with them, I have proofread titles including Heart Rate Variability, Practical Guide to Exercise Physiology, Patient-Centered Care in Sports Medicine, Pilates for Rehabilitation, and others. This work requires a keen eye for detail to catch spelling and grammatical errors; ensure corresponding photos, figures, and captions; review running headers and footers; confirm consistent design elements; and address other odds and ends.
NC State: Extension Publications
NC State’s Extension Publications and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Communications provide research-based information to the public and professionals in the agriculture industry. In my role as copyeditor, I edited peer-reviewed manuscripts for grammar, spelling, syntax, diction, and punctuation. Examples of publications I have edited for CALS include “Fiber Hemp Variety Trail Results: 2023 to 2024” and “Watering Down Risk: Irrigation and Insurance Trends Among North Carolina Corn Growers.”
Booxpert: Self-Help Book
What Is the Life That Wants to Live Within You? is a well-received self-help book published in Hungarian by Booxpert and translated into English. I provided post-layout proofreading to ensure the final manuscript was free of linguistic errors, typos, formatting inconsistencies, and layout issues prior to publication. The book launched in English-speaking markets in the spring of 2026.
Just Trails: Strategic Plans and Technical Reports
Just Trails promotes healthy communities and advances environmental justice through the connective power of trails by providing planning, capacity building, and technical assistance. In my work with the organization, I ensured accuracy in data presentation, clarity in storytelling, and consistency across tables, charts, maps, and links. I edited a Community Engagement Strategy and Governance Framework for the Saluda Grade Trail, provided substantive edits for their “Trail Towns & Gateway Communities: Survey Findings and Impact Report,” and collaborated on the production of the “Adventures & Impact” annual report.
Alicia Marie Bell: Author Bio
Alicia needed an author bio for her Amazon, Goodreads, and YouTube profiles, but she wasn’t sure where to start. After providing her with a list of questions and writing prompts, she developed a 150-word bio, which I reviewed for grammar, logic, and flow.

FreeBody: Video Editing
With more than 11,000 subscribers, Cat Matlock with FreeBody produces weekly videos that help viewers fix their own aches and pains using simple skills and practices. In addition to editing the video description, keywords, and titles for search engine optimization (SEO), I also edit the videos and insert text and images to give the viewer visual context.
Tzedek Social Justice Fund: Policies and Procedures Manual
At Tzedek, I cowrote and edited multiple policies and procedures, including the employee handbook, the board manual, organizational policies, and many other internal and external documents.

As the Social Enterprise & Food Program Manager at Green Opportunities (GO), I cowrote and edited two food-related business plans for an urban agriculture enterprise and a community grocery store.
Equinox Environmental: Watershed Management Plan
In addition to coordinating stakeholders and collecting chemical, biological, and physical water quality data, as an employee of Equinox Environmental, I cowrote and edited the Hunting Creek Watershed Plan. The plan was developed to guide restoration efforts so that the ecological health and function of streams would improve and the watershed could support a diversity of fish communities once again.
